"YouTube and Google laid the foundation for the idea of building with hempcrete, but Joe cemented my thoughts. Joe and his team had all the answers and their knowledge was outstanding. The ability to learn from THBC and then play with the product was amazing".

2 Day Workshop - Hempcrete Building For Professionals & Owner Builders
Our 2 day professional workshop format will appeal to architects, tradespeople, owner-builders and educators, as well as anyone with an interest in hempcrete construction methods.
You will explore the remarkable properties of hemp, its use by various civilisations throughout history and the 'rediscovery' of hemp in recent times as the ultimate environmentally conscious solution to contemporary building.
Joe will guide you through the key theoretical and practical issues to consider when building with hemp, including design and planning considerations, Planning and Building Permit requirements, structural requirements, building regulations, interior detailing, traditional rendering finishes and external cladding options. You will also gain an insight into the hemp building industry in Australia and internationally today.
Day 1 of the Hempcrete Building for Professionals & Owner Builders Workshop includes an intensive theory component where you will examine the physical characteristics of hemp hurd and lime, explore the potential applications of hempcrete in a building, how to select the appropriate hemp binder for each application and the importance of this decision when it comes to Building Permit approval, and take an in-depth look at current building regulations and their impact on hempcrete construction. Joe will discuss the various aesthetic finishes and traditional rendering application techniques available.
On Day 2 you will have the opportunity for some hands-on instruction as you help to construct a section of a 'cast-in-situ' hemp wall. You will learn practical building techniques and tips, gain an understanding of the importance of accurate mixing ratios, develop proficiency in equipment operation and site logistics, and have an understanding of the OH&S requirements unique to hempcrete building.
Unique to The Hemp Building Company, our Hempcrete Building For Professionals & Owner Builders Workshop has been designed to provide you with an Installers Certificate. CodeMark® certification and its importance in obtaining building permit approval will be explained in detail.
The Hempcrete Building for Professionals & Owner Builders Workshop has been designed to give Owner Builders the confidence and technical skills to get you off the drawing board and on your way to creating your own dream hempcrete build.
